In August and September of 2011, the City of Joburg embarked upon an outreach process to formulate a Future Strategy for Joburg, which culminated in the Joburg 2040 Strategy

My land, my heritage is the first project by the City's landmark Joburg 2040 Growth and Development Strategy (GDS). The first of its kind in South Africa, the My land, my heritage project will see the Joburg Property Company transfer thousands of council-owned properties into the hands of residents, under its land regularisation programme.
