21/09/2015: Demolishing of old hostel to pave way for Phase 2 Orlando West women's hostel

The Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) Housing in the City of Johannesburg, Clr Dan Bovu, will be conducting demolitions at the Orlando West Women’s Hostel.

BACKGROUND

This hostel is one of the hostels that have been undergoing a major makeover under the City of Johannesburg’s multi-million rand Soweto Hostel Redevelopment and Upgrading Programme. The reconstruction project is a joint initiative between the City of Johannesburg and the Gauteng Human Settlements Department.

This demolition will make way for the implementation of the 2nd phase of developing 298 family units.

The demolitions will take place as follows:
