06/10/2015: Ntirhisano Community Outreach programme hits Soweto
06 October 2015
Gauteng Premier David Makhura, Members of the Executive Council and Johannesburg Executive Mayor, Councillor Parks Tau will spend two days in Soweto to assess service delivery progress and engage with the community.

The visit is part of the Ntirhisano Service Delivery War Room programme and is in line with the provincial government’s commitment of being an activist and responsive government.

Some of the issued to be discussed with the Diepkloof, Noordgesig and Orlando East and Pimville residents include drug abuse, dysfunctional street lights, potholes and unprocessed title deeds.

Through the EcoMobility World Festival 2015, which is being hosted by the City of Johannesburg throughout October to mark Transport Month, the leaders will demonstrate that it is possible to break away from the ingrained habits of urban travellers who turn to private vehicles as a default way of commuting. It is possible for a city the size of Johannesburg to move towards a low-carbon future.
