City Power embarks on data collection project Print E-mail
23 November 2012

City Power and its audit contractors, Tsekema Consulting Engineers, have embarked on a massive data collection and verification project as part of the City of Joburg’s drive to understand metering challenges with a view to ensuring that customers and residents are serviced effectively.

Audit teams – easily identifiable by their orange reflective jackets with the City of Joburg’s logo on the front and Tsekema’s one on the back – will in the next few months be visiting various households in all the City’s regions to collect the necessary data.

The auditors will be in possession of valid identification cards and an audit authorisation letter from City Power. Residents are urged to guard against chancers and criminal elements.

“The City of Johannesburg urges you to welcome the auditors into your homes and business premises so that the City can improve its services to you,” the municipal-owned entity said in a statement.

On entering the premises, the auditors will, in the case of private dwellings, ask for the names and surnames of the property owners or tenants. as well as their contact details.

They will then ask to be allowed to switch the power off for a short period to check the geyser for ripple relays, if applicable. They will also check technical meter information.

Up-to-date audit schedules and interactive maps of the audit’s progress are available on www.citypower.co.za. All you have to do is to click on the “data collection and verification project” icon.
