| Region B's attractions are characterised by open-air recreational areas, places of cultural and historic significance and a lively restaurant scene.
Some of Johannesburg's trendiest restaurants are found in Melville - which is also a lively entertainment centre - Greenside and Parkhurst. The latter, along with neighbouring Parkview, is a boutique shopping mecca, particularly for antiques.
The major shopping mall in the Region is Cresta Shopping Centre, where there is a major cinema complex. Other important shopping centres are Rosebank, Hyde Park and Campus Square.
The number of hotels has increased in the Region particularly with the establishment of the Gautrain station in Rosebank, making easy accessibility to the trendy and upmarket Rosebank shopping and dining experience. The Four Seasons Hotel on Westcliff ridge is a five-star establishment with an excellent reputation and magnificent views.
Other excellent outdoor recreational areas include the Melville Koppies Nature Reserve, Westdene and Emmarentia Dams, Johannesburg Botanical Gardens, Joburg Zoo, Zoo Lake, the highly respected Delta Park and Environmental Centre and the Kelland Bird Sanctuary amongst others.
Municipal-run sports stadiums are the Randburg Sports Stadium, Newclare Indoor Sports Centre and Union Stadium. In general sports are well catered for, with venues including Marks Park, the Northcliff Country Club and the Randpark Golf Course.
There are numerous swimming pools and recreation centres throughout the Region.
