The Department of Development Planning recently embarked on a process to review the boundaries and controls of the urban nodes within the City. This came following the approval of the Spatial Development Framework 2040 for Johannesburg. The document, and the Council minutes which adopted it, called for this Nodal Review to be drafted. Notice is hereby given in terms of section 20 (3) Of the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act (no. 16 f 2013) that the City of Johannesburg has published it's Nodal Review for public comment. The published document outlines the aims of the Nodal Review, the process that was followed in reviewing the nodes in the city, and describes a new 'transect' or 'development zone' approach which is an evolution of the nodal strategy. It further indicates the development guidelines that should be applied in each of the development zones of the city. The City would like to invite comment on the document from any party that may be interested. The comment period is 60 days. The document is available:
