Use the zoo facilities for something a little different

There are seven venues that can be hired for various functions or events. They cater for indoor and outdoor events and can accommodate small, intimate groups as well as groups of up to 3 000 people.

The Anglo Gold Ashanti Conference Centre
The Anglo Gold Ashanti conference centre overlooks the lion enclosure. Guests are able to see these wild animals up close, including the zoo’s rare white lions. The stunning colonial-style boardroom offers seating for 50 people, while a wooden deck outside is an excellent venue for cocktail functions.

Ape house deck This open-air deck overlooks the beautiful orang-utan and chimpanzee enclosures and offers a spectacular venue for breakfasts or cocktail evenings. The wooden deck can accommodate 100 standing and 50 seated guests.

The bandstand
This old-fashioned raised bandstand and surrounding lawn offer a venue for concerts and related activities. Up to 3000 people can be accommodated.

Centenary lawn
The centenary lawn is filled with large shade trees and is the perfect venue for gatherings and garden parties of up to 1000 people. The lawn overlooks the zoo’s central lake, which also features an island inhabited by lemurs.

The old elephant house
The ideal party or wedding venue, the old elephant house offers both outdoor and indoor facilities and a chapel. Built from stone, it has authentic charm and park-like surroundings. Up to 120 guests can be accommodated outside and 80 seated inside.

Sasol Wing – bird aviary
This secluded venue is the ideal choice for small, intimate gatherings of up to 100 standing or 50 seated guests. Get a close-up view of some of the rare bird species at the zoo over cocktails in a venue with rustic charm and ambiance.

Tree of Light lawn
A favourite outdoors venue for larger groups, the Tree of Light lawn offers a pristine setting under large shade trees. Adjacent to the lawn is the Forest Floor exhibit which houses the Central African bongo and red river hogs, among other unique animals.
