Public consultation on the Gender Policy and Women Development Strategy

The City of Johannesburg Human and Social Development Cluster is in the process of reviewing the Women Development Strategy and the draft Gender Policy. The two documents are available on the Joburg website www.joburg.org,za for comments. he regional Departments of Social Development are currently  spearheading the process of  engaging with the city 's residents so that they are  provided the opportunity to input on the documents, public engagement is currently underway through regional workshops and  availing the documents at the Women Empowerment sites and  people centres for comments.

The 2013/14 Property Rates Policy

The Rates Policy guides the City in all aspects of levying rates on property owners. It also defines the different categories of property, as well as specifies the categories of property ownership that may qualify for rates rebates and exemptions under the MPRA.

GIBB appointed on ridesharing options

GIBB was appointed by the Gautrain Management Agency and the City of Johannesburg to investigate current ridesharing options in Johannesburg.

Annual report 2011/2012

The City of Johannesburg tabled its draft 2011/12 Annual Report for public comment on 31 January, 2013.

The Public participation period is extended to the 15 March 2013 as supplementary information is available.  The Report will be available from all Regional Offices and Council facilities and is published on the City's website  for public comment . Everyone is urged to participate to make Joburg a better place to live in.

Pikitup Bin Verification Process

Pikitup - the City of Johannesburg waste management entity will be taking stock of bins across 680 000 households in order to ensure accuracy of billing data supplied to Pikitup.  The process will be carried out from 04 February - 30 April 2013.

By-laws for hosting public events

The Joint Operations Committee ensures that all events held in the City of Johannesburg are safe and that the event organisers comply with all the By-Laws and Regulations of the City, as well as the Safety at Sports and Recreational Events Act no. 2 of 2010.

As per the new Safety at Sports and Recreational Events Act, it is now a legal requirement for all events to have Event Plans submitted by the Event Organisers to the National Commissioner of SAPS, a month before the event, for Risk Grading purposes.

City of Johannesburg Ombudsman By-Law

The City of Johannesburg municipality is in the process of establishing the Office of the Ombudsman. The Office of the Ombudsman will examine complaints from members of the public who feel they have been unfairly treated by City of Johannesburg and municipal owned entities’ employees or departments. These complaints include billing and any other service delivery queries. The City of Johannesburg residents are encouraged to approach the Office of the Ombudsman with their queries after having exhausted all City of Johannesburg and the municipal owned entities’ internal query solving processes.

Below are the daft by-laws for the establishment of the Office of the Ombudsman. The City of Johannesburg residents are requested to provide input and comments on the draft by-laws.
