03/03/2017: The City apologizes for issuing incorrect pre-terminations
03 March 2017
The City of Johannesburg would like to apologize to some customers who have received incorrect pre-termination notices as a result of the system glitch.

City’s Spokesperson Kgamanyane Maphologela, says all customers who were affected will be assisted to correct the error.

“Customers who have received the incorrect pre-termination notices after they have paid their accounts on time can ignore the message. We apologize for the inconvenience caused,” says Maphologela.

Maphologela says the City was working hard to resolve the system glitch.

Furthermore, the City wishes to advise that all charges relating to the issuing of the abovementioned pre-termination notices will be reversed. Customers are encouraged to pay their municipal bills as per their normal due dates.

“We encourage the customers to always pay their accounts on time and in full. Customers should immediately make payment arrangements if they are unable to pay to avoid attracting credit control actions against them,” says Maphologela.

For more information, please visit any of our nearest Customer Service Centres or speak to us by calling the City’s Call Centre on 0860 562 874.

Lastly, customers must remember that should they pay at any 3rd party on the due date, it will only reflect on our systems 3 days later, therefore credit control will kick in.
