DEBIT ORDER REJECTED BY FIRST NATIONAL BANK
First National Bank has recently changed some of its IT systems and, as a result, customers' debit orders to the benefit of the City of Johannesburg may have been rejected.

This means that customers' municipal statements may show that their debit order was rejected and that no payment was made. If left unattended, these accounts will be in arrears and will be referred to the City's Credit Control department for further action.

In order to avoid this, customers are kindly requested to arrange to pay all their current charges on their municipal accounts and to visit their nearest First National Bank branch to re-instate their debit orders prior to next month's debit.

The changes were outside the control of the City's Revenue Department and were made without any advance notice to ourselves; we were, therefore, unable to advise customers of this matter before now.

Customers are requested to contact their nearest First National Bank branch for further information regarding the debit order issue, or to contact the City's call center at Joburg Connect (011) 375 5555 for any enquiries about their municipal account.
