​DA's ratings on City of Johannesburg performance, dated 11 January 2007

With reference to the above subject, we would like to correct wrong figures on the house delivery issues for the year 2005/2006 published in the so-called rating for Joburg City's Housing Member of Council (MMC), Clr Strike Ralegoma.

It must be noted that the Housing Department's target was 8 300 and a total of 5 378 Top Structures were delivered. This translates to 65% delivery. Secondly, on the other KPI's, it must be noted that we have exceeded the targets viz (Issuing Title Deeds) target: 10 000 and achieved 14 873.

Amongst other reasons for not achieving the set target (100%), is the challenge on construction delays due to heavy rain falls and the boom in the construction industry that resulted in competition on scare resources with big developers. Availability of material and increases in price of steel and cement also impacted negatively on delivery.
