Low Water Pressure Problem in Lanasia
Johannesburg Water, the water and sanitation service provider for the City Of Joburg would like to inform residents living in Lenasia that we are aware of the erratic water pressure affecting Lenasia Central Business District and certain extensions.
The pressure in the area is currently being controlled manually at the PRV (Pressure Reducing Valve) chamber at Gemsbok Avenue. The erratic pressure we are experiencing also causes pipe bursts in the area and the problem is exacerbated by the ageing infrastructure in the area which is over 40 years old. We are in the process of installing a smart controller to smooth out the current pressure surges and the work will take 3-4 weeks to be completed.
One of the challenges facing the utility in this area is the upgrading and rehabilitation of the existing water infrastructure which comprises of asbestos cement pipes. The utility wishes to apologize to the affected residents and undertakes to have the pressure problem resolved as soon as possible.
