City's data quality project on track
The City of Johannesburg is confident that its Data Quality Management Project (DQMP) will be completed on schedule by the end of 2007.
DQMP teams, having just successfully completed work in the western and almost all of the northern suburbs during the past year, will soon begin work in the City's eastern suburbs. This includes the stretch from Braamfontein to Wynberg in the north and Kensington in the east to Melrose in the west.
Imvusa and Owethu are the contractors appointed to assist with obtaining and confirming information on customer details, services supplied, the accuracy of meter readings and other relevant data. "These contractors can be asked to identify themselves by supplying a letter of authorisation and an identity card", says Mandy Jean Woods spokesperson for Revenue and Customer Relations Management.
She says, "We advise our customers living in these areas to expect a visit from our project teams over the next months or two". Woods said the City wanted to improve service delivery levels and requested customers to "support" this initiative and cooperate with DQMP inspectors.
"Most importantly no payments should be made whatsoever to any inspector because the objective of the project is collection of information and not collection of outstanding arrears", says Woods.
The DQMP that started in 2006 aims to improve meter reading, billing and overall customer service through verification of customer information. In this way the City is assured of having current accurate customer information on its databases.
