City proudly celebrates pharmacy week

The City Of Johannesburg Health Department will hold its annual Pharmacy Week from 03 – 08 September 2007, with this year’s theme being “CHANGE YOUR LIFE – MAKE HEALTHY CHOICES”. It is a partnership between National Department of Health, South African Pharmacy Council and the Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa.

The City of Johannesburg boasts a pharmacy depot based in the Langlaagte area. The pharmaceutical unit is responsible for procuring and supplying primary health care drugs to all health sub-districts in Johannesburg. All 84 City Of Johannesburg’s clinics get their drugs supplies from this unit. The City of Joburg is proud to be part of this event.

What the City Of Johannesburg Pharmaceutical Services advocates for is:
Take charge of your health; live a healthy lifestyle, through exercise and a healthy diet.
Take your TB medicines as advised, to avoid complications like multi-drug resistance (MDR) and extreme drug resistance (XDR).
Treat and support people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS like in any other case of chronic diseases, e.g. hypertension or diabetes.
To raise awareness regarding the correct usage and storage of medicines.
