2009-06-24: Joburg Mayor visits Ennerdale
MAYORAL road shows provides a platform for the Executive Mayor, members of the City of Johannesburg - Councillor Amos Masondo and senior officials an opportunity to interact with various stakeholders, provide dialogue between communities and the City as well as to promote trust and provision of better service delivery.
The Executive Mayor of Joburg will, on June 25, take to the streets of Ennerdale, situated in the Region G south of Joburg for a site visit to identify problematic areas and incorporate the work that the city is currently doing and also highlight future plans for Ennerdale and surrounding areas. The region is one of the most disadvantaged within the City and requires acceleration of service delivery.
The engagement will start with a Welcome address by the Executive Mayor, followed by the Regional Manager for the region, Mr Mlamleli Belot giving a short overview of the region. There after, the local stakeholders - Ennerdale Development Forum – will make a presentation highlighting their areas of concern.
A tour will then be undertaken to show the City’s leadership areas requiring urgent attention. The tour departs from Ennerdale Civic Centre at the corner of Katz and Smith streets, the route will include areas such as the Clinic in extension 8, sports facilities, the Resort Cemetery and other sites requiring attention in Ennerdale.
By engaging with stakeholders, Masondo believes the city’s management can accurately gauge the pulse of the city and act in accordance, with its stakeholders’ needs close at heart.
Service delivery challenges in the region includes roads infrastructure, transport, health, public safety, illegal dumping amongst others. The City’s leadership will be on hand to respond to the questions raised and to explain the city’s programmes to accelerate service delivery in the area.
