2009-11-06: City of Joburg International Trade Mission travels to South East Asia
The City of Johannesburg’s Executive Mayor, Cllr Amos Masondo, will be embarking on a trip to South East Asia as part of the City of Joburg’s International Trade Mission. Members of the Mayoral Committee, other senior managers as well as business in the city will be part of the entourage in the ten-day trip.
The delegation will be visiting the Greater Municipality of Mumbai in India, Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam, Shanghai City in the People’s Republic of China and Saint Petersburg in Russia from the 7th to the 17th of November 2009.
The main purpose of the visit is to share experience and expertise in the hope of securing good relations among the cities. The delegation’s area of interest include trade and investment promotion; support for the homeless, orphans and vulnerable children-street children and poverty alleviation projects in particular food security and human trafficking; migration; social housing; urban renewal and regeneration, environmental education to mentioned just a few.
The City is committed to improving its performance by building international relations in order to learn and possibly adapt what other cities in the world are doing in similar areas of service delivery.
