In a show of confidence, Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg Councillor Amos Masondo will host ambassadors and consul-generals to indicate the City’s state of readiness to host the Fifa Soccer World Cup.
It is expected that representatives from over 100 countries will attend the briefing and tour of facilities and stadia in the coming week.
Diplomats will be taken to Orlando and Soccer City stadia to see first hand the extent of preparations for the tournament.
“It is important that we impress upon the world our readiness, capability and commitment to deliver the best Soccer World Cup ever by allowing diplomats to see for themselves how ready we are to welcome the world to Johannesburg”, says Mayor Masondo.
Continuing, Mayor Masondo says, “We are ready and confident that the World Cup will be a resounding success. We call upon our people to be the best ambassadors and hosts”.
Due to constant requests from the media to visit Soccer City, the City has taken a decision to invite them as well.
