Rea Vaya celebrates the launch of new bus routes on the 3rd May 2010

The  City  of  Johannesburg  is delighted to celebrate the achievement of a critical milestone in the Rea Vaya BRT public transport system.

On  Monday 3rd May 2010, two new feeder services and a distribution service will  be  implemented.  The  feeder services will transport passengers from Protea  Glen  via Thokoza Park into the CBD and another feeder service will travel from Eldorado Park via Lakeview station into the CBD. A distribution service   will  travel  from  Chancellor  House  and  Library  Gardens  via Braamfontein, Wits, Hillbrow and the Art Gallery near Joubert Park.

“This  new  roll-out  represents 95% completion of Phase 1A of the Rea Vaya BRT  system  and  we are delighted for achieving this milestone in time for our  FIFA  2010  World Cup preparations”, says Councilor Rehana Moosajee, a Member of Mayoral Committee for Transportation in the City of Johannesburg.

She  continues  that this achievement signals that the City of Johannesburg is  ready  and  prepared  for  a  successful  World  Cup.  “A viable public transport  system  such  as  the  one  represented by the Rea Vaya BRT is a critical component for our country’s economic development”.

To celebrate the launch of the new routes, a brand activation event will be held  between  06h00 and 09h00 on Monday the 3rd of May at the old entrance of  the  Legislature Building between Market and President Street on Rissik Street.  The  MMC,  Clr  Rehana  Moosajee,  will be among the guests at the launch.  The  aim of the launch is to inform people about the services that Rea  Vaya  BRT  public  transport has to offer through the use of radio and informational handouts which will be available at the launch.
