2010-05-20: Book Fair in Celebration of Africa Week
THE City of Johannesburg Library and Information Services (CoJLIS) Directorate is holding a Book Fair in Celebration of Africa Week.
The Book Fair will take place at the African Literature Bookshop in the FNB Building, 191 Louis Botha Avenue (cnr 8th Street), Orange Grove, and aims to promote indigenous literature, languages and writers (including emerging writers).
The event is the first of its kind to be hosted by the city and it forms part of the Johannesburg Literary Festival (JoLiFe). The Johannesburg Literary Festival falls under the umbrella of the African Literary Programme under scribed by the Honourable Mayor, Councillor Amos Masondo.
This event will be launched on Africa Day, Tuesday 25 May, and run until Friday 28 May 2010. Africa Day is the official day of the African Union and provides the opportunity for the celebration of African unity and achievement worldwide.
