2010-06-12: City services to continue throughout World Cup period
SERVICE delivery in Johannesburg will continue uninterrupted throughout the World Cup period says the City Manager, Mr Mavela Dlamini.
“Resident can be assured that the city is not coming to a standstill because of our hosting of the big event. Essential services will continue as normal,” he says.
Among the services that will run according to normal schedules will be refuse removal, electricity and water provision, bus services and contact centres. All city offices, including regional offices, will keep normal hours of business and continue to render their normal services to the public.
The only possible exception might be the Rea Vaya Bus Rapid Transit service that will give preference to the movement of spectators to Soccer City and Ellis Park on the 15 designated match days.
