2011-03-10: Dumas moves from water to billing
MR Gerald Dumas has been appointed as acting Executive Director: Revenue at the City of Johannesburg.
Mr Dumas, who is the current Managing Director of Joburg Water, will take over the duties of Ms Vicky Shuping, who will be responsible for projects in the office of the City Manager.
The City Manager, Mr Mavela Dlamini, says "Johannesburg is delighted to call on the services of an experienced administrator such as Mr Dumas." In his five years at the helm of Joburg Water he was responsible for a number of large capital projects to revitalise the City's water infrastructure and extend services to communities who have been excluded in the past. More than 98% of city residents now receive basic water and 91% basic sanitation services on a daily basis.
"His experience in the management of databases and customer relations will be of great value in his new position as the head of the Revenue department," says Mr Dlamini. "He will be leading the City's new drive to assist our customers in dealing with outstanding billing issues and implement the current project to establish a new system of customer relations and revenue management."
Mr Manu Padayachee will become acting MD of Joburg Water.
