2011-04-12: Revenue discount scheme campaign
JOHANNESBURG Executive Mayor, Councillor Amos Masondo announced that customers with disputes on long outstanding billing queries will receive substantial discounts if they meet certain criteria. The City started this process on Monday, 14 March 2011.
Queries outstanding for 12 months and longer qualify for a 50% discount on the balance of the account while queries with a lifespan between 90 days and 12 months qualify for a 25% discount on the account balance.
The Revenue & Customer Relations Management Department will analyze whether or not you qualify for the discount and you will be advised of the outcome at a later stage.
The discount scheme will be affected to applications for metered services only (ie., electricity, water, sewer, refuse removal). It is therefore important to note that rates is a tax and as such can not be discounted. This is against the Municipal Property Rates Act that the Rates Policy is derived from and is therefore excluded from this process.
Customers that have queries can log a query with Joburg Connect at (011) 375-5555 or email them at joburgconnect@joburg.org.za or visit their nearest Customer Service Centre.
The City of Johannesburg would like to apologise to all its customers who have been inconvenienced by this change.
