PEOPLE looking to carve a career in the Construction or Information Communication Technology (ICT) can apply to the Skills Unit Learner Placement Programme

of the Department of Economic Development in the City of Johannesburg.

Applications must be submitted on or before 18 June 2012 for the training and placement programme will run for 12 months.

The programme focuses on work-based skills and training primarily for unemployed youth and unemployed tradespersons in order to increase their employability

and self-employability. In particular, women, youth, ex-military veterans and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

This project has been established by the City of Johannesburg’s Department of Economic Development Skills Unit in partnership with various key stakeholders.

There are minimum requirements for the positions. Applicants must have:

Matric certificate or equivalent;
Resident of the City of Johannesburg;
Good working knowledge of English (verbal and written);
Good interpersonal skills;
Computer skills;
Knowledge in Construction or ICT;
Declaration of criminal record;
Must be between 18 and 35 years unless ex-military veteran
