2012-08-16: Pikitup addresses issue of wheelie bin backlog
17 August 2012
Pikitup, the City of Johannesburg’s Waste Management Entity, will be distributing 240l wheelie bins within the next four weeks to the city’s residents who
applied for new, misplaced, lost or stolen bins.
In the interim, residents who are waiting for their bins to be replaced are requested to continue using ordinary refuse bags. Pikitup staff, responsible
for collecting bins, have been briefed to collect the refuse bags while the supply of bins is being addressed.
Residents are urged not to entertain Pikitup employees demanding bribes or additional fees for refuse collection services. Please report incidents of
wrongdoing by giving as much information as possible (e.g. vehicle registration number; the area and street where such an incident takes places and the time
of the incident). This will help us identify employees who are not complying with company policy. The details can be sent via e-mail to:
info@pikitup.co.za"> info@pikitup.co.za or by contacting the City’s Anti-Fraud Hotline number on 0800 002 587. Serious disciplinary steps will be taken
against employees who either misbehave or solicit bribes from residents.
Should residents have any further queries, Pikitup would like to encourage them to contact Joburg Connect on 011-375-5555 or 0860 502874 (0860 JOBURG),
alternatively visit www.pikitup.co.za .
