11-03-2013: Me, you walking towards a healthy destination​

The City of Johannesburg Health Department in Region F (inner-city) will conduct Health Open Day and a 7km Fun Walk event on Saturday, 23 March 2012 at Diepkloof Club House, Phase 2 from 07h00-15h00, to promote healthy lifestyle as part of the World Health Day.

The World Health Day came into effect from April 7, 1950. Hence forte each year is dedicated towards achievement of the global health goals. On the day, various activities and programmes are planned to create awareness and to the specific health issue.

The Health Open Day will provide an ideal opportunity to find out about the wide range of exciting programmes the City of Johannesburg health department offers to the community. The month of March is dedicated for the awareness and screening of TB.

There will be a range of activities during the day, which include Open Day event that will promote healthy lifestyle, 7km fun walk, cultural dance, aerobics and medical screening. All participating organisations will be given stalls to promote their services.

The organisations will include some of the City of Johannesburg’s departments such as , Joburg Fresh Produce, Disaster Management and private stakeholders like South African Social Security( SASSA),ANOVA Men’s Health, WRHI, Central Gauteng Athletics and the following sponsorship: Virgin Active, Old Mutual, ABI,  FIS Funeral, Gym Company( Winchester), and Rhupo Investments.

The main focus will be on the chronic lifestyle diseases i.e. testing blood pressures, sugar diabetes ,HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT) and men’s health.

The 7km fun walk registration forms will be available on the day of the walk.
