30-12-2013 - City of Johannesburg hosts the New Year's Eve Festival
The City of Johannesburg will once again host its annual New Year's bash in Newtown on the 31st December 2013 at the Mary Fitzgerald Square as part of improving the quality of lives of its citizens, and ensuring a safe and happy new year.
Performing on the night will be Chomee, Kelly Khumalo, Arthur, Mdu, Skwatta Kamp, Pro Kid, Ishmael and many DJ’s. The free of charge concert starts at 6pm on New Year's Eve and goes on until 2am on 01 January 2014.
More than 10 000 party goers are expected to attend the New Year's party, which includes a massive ten minutes fireworks display at midnight.
The City has urged party people to drink and behave responsibly. Bottled beverages, alcohol, fire works and weapons will not be allowed into the venue. There will be a strong presence of the law enforcement agencies and Emergency Management Services will be present to maintain law and order, and attend to all emergencies on the night.
The evening will be an explosion of sights and sounds, as the City welcomes in 2014 to the beat of Joburg's top performers and the skyline lights up with the sparkle of an electrifying fireworks display. The concert brings together some of the South African music industry's greatest talents.
The Joburg New Year's Eve Party is at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown on Tuesday, 31 January 2013, starts from 6pm. Entrance is free.
