06-03-2014: City Power is responding to Eskom’s load shedding
City Power has embarked on load shedding as per the load shedding schedule due to an emergency request from Eskom this morning to manage national electricity supply constraints.
As part of our preparations and at this stage, the following suburbs will be affected from 8:30:
• Hillbrow, Berea, Houghton, The Wilds, Hillside, Parktown, Highpoint, Doonrnfontein, Yeoville, Rosebank, Killarney, Saxonwold, Hyde Park, Dunkeld, Parkwood, Melrose Arch, Melrose, Birdhaven, Chislehurston, Riviera, Norwood, Bramley, Illovo, Athol, Inanda, Alexandra, Wynberg, Kew, Bramley Gardens, Fairmount, Silvamonte, Lyndhurst, Glenhazel, Crystal Gardens, Rembrandt Park, Sunningdale and Lombardy.
All these areas will be restored at 12h30. Subsequent to this load-shedding schedule currently available on City Power's website will be put into effect.
"We ask all our customers to use electricity sparingly by switching off non essential appliances and equipment during peak hours," said Louis Pieterse, City Power's Director of Engineering Operations.
Customers are urged to switch off appliances and equipment during outages to avoid damages during the power restoration.
