07-07-2014: The City condemns the attacked on its Member of the Mayoral Committee


The City of Johannesburg condemns the robbery and violent attack on MMC Ross Greeff and her family at their home in Roodepoort. 
 
The incident was reported to JMPD and subsequently to South African Police Services (SAPS) at the Roodepoort Police Station and a case opened.
 
According to the charge sheet, about five armed men stormed her house at around 18:50 on the 06 July 2014.  They took two TV’s, a laptop, two cellphones, an Ipad and jewellery to the value of R80000. The MMC sustained minor injuries during the attack and was taken to Flora Clinic for treatment, where she has since been discharged. 
 
The City sympathizes with MMC Greeff and her family and wishes them speedy recovery from both physical and emotional trauma they experienced. 
 
In discussion with the MMC, the City and the MMC’s family wishes to thank the JMPD and South African Police Services (SAPS) for a prompt response and the level of professionalism displayed by officers dealing with this case.
 
The City will cooperate with the SAPS to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.
 
On behalf of the family, members of the media are requested to respect the family’s privacy and direct queries to the City’s spokesperson and SAPS.
