12-11-2014: The wonderful Wizard of OZ

We’re off to see The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the most magical adventure of all time!
Follow the yellow brick road, to the magic land of National Children’s Theatre (NCT), in Parktown, Johannesburg. A storm is blowing there and soon it will give rise to a mighty twister that will transport audiences to the magical Land of Oz from Monday 10 November to December 21, 2014.

Click your heels together and join Dorothy and her beloved dog Toto, as they journey over the rainbow to the Emerald City searching for the great and powerful Wizard of Oz. Along the way she meets Dorothy’s friends: Scarecrow in need of a brain, rusty Tin Man in search of a heart, and Cowardly Lion who lacks courage.

Audiences of all ages will experience a rare treat as the adventure unfolds on stage. The magic of this musical is sure to cast its spell on the entire family. Whether you're young or old, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz will strike an emotional chord in all who recognise life's lessons learned in Oz: The importance of mind and heart; the need to dream and dare to ride out storms; the joys of loving and crying; the despair of being lost and the joy of being found again. And the final lesson is that no matter how far our journeys take us – there’s no place like home.

The L Frank Baum classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz will be directed by Francois Theron, Musical Supervision by Rowan Bakker, Choreography by Caitlin Clerk, while Set Design and Lighting are by Stan Knight and Jane Gosnell respectively.

Emma Victoria Hayden has been cast in the role of Dorothy. On her journey through the Land of Oz she meets up with Scarecrow (Phillip Schnetler), Tin Man (Sean Louw) and Cowardly Lion (Gamelihle Bovana). Devon Flemmer appears as Wizard and also Uncle Henry. Suzaan Helberg cast in the role of Good Witch, Patricia Boyer as The Wicked Witch, Nomonde Matiwane and Yamikani Mahaka-Phiri.
