17-12-2014: Pikitup welcomes the arrest of four bogus Pikitup workers
The Acting Managing Director of Pikitup, Mr. Ika Magasa today welcomed the arrest of four bogus operatives pretending to be Pikitup employees in Kelvin suburb, for harassing and demanding donations or Christmas Gifts from residents. All these accomplices were charged with theft under false pretence and will appear in court soon.
Mr. Magasa calls upon all the residents of Johannesburg to report imposters and staff who approach or harass them for gifts or donations. Corporate governance and zero tolerance to corruption are of critical importance to Pikitup. We will leave no stone unturned in rooting out corrupt officials and unscrupulous people trying to rob the residents of Johannesburg.
“The residents of Johannesburg are not allowed to hand over gifts to waste removal staff during their routine operations of collecting refuse from their households. Pikitup employees are forbidden from soliciting Christmas gifts from members of the public, as this goes against company policy for staff to take part in this tradition”, said Magasa.
Any irregular activities can be reported to the South African Police Services or contact the City of Johannesburg’s 24-hour 24/7 toll-free hotline on 0800 00 25 87, which is manned in all 11 official languages or via e-mail: anticorruption@tip-offs.com or send an SMS to 32840 line which is charged at a minimal fee of R1.50c.
