25-11-2014: Free Business Workshop to give entrepreneurs tools to succeed
The City of Johannesburg Library and Information Services is hosting a business workshop on the 26 November 2014. The workshop is in partnership with the Gauteng Enterprise Propeller, the City’s Finance Department and the South African Revenue Services.
The aim of the workshop is to equip young people and emerging entrepreneurs with relevant information that will assist them to seize opportunities and tackle challenges in the ever increasing competitive business environment.
Presentations will focus on compliance with tax laws; importance of proper record keeping; retention periods of close corporation and company records; how to apply for a Tax Clearance Certificate; registration of business and community based companies on the City’s Supplier Database; range of procurement processes (e.g. competitive bids, formal written price quotations); community based vendors; designing business plans; facilitation of access to finances and markets; and business advisory and mentoring services.
Alexandra Shapiro, who is only 23-years-old, is a young entrepreneur and a CEO of company he co-founded. He will also be giving a presentation.
