20/05/2015: City of Joburg will hold a Memorial Service for fallen firefighters
The City of Johannesburg will hold a memorial service for firefighters who died while battling a fire on Thursday, 21 May 2015 at Standard Bank Arena in Johannesburg from 13h00.
Daniel Zwane and Michael Letsosa died while battling a fire in a seven-storey building situated on the corner of Small and Market streets in the Johannesburg CBD on Saturday, 16 May 2015.
Firefighters form a very important part of the City’s emergency response team and the death of the two Joburg Emergency Management Services team members is indeed a great loss to the people of Johannesburg.
The City of Johannesburg management have already met with the families of the firefighters and funeral arrangements are underway in Soweto and KwaZulu-Natal where one of the firefighters hails from.
A Memorial Service will take place as follows:
