22/04/2015: Joburg’s Draft Rates Policy available for comment

The City of Johannesburg has tabled its draft Rates Policy in conjunction with the proposed tariffs for public comment. The policy, which is reviewed annually, defines and categorises all properties within the borders of Johannesburg and allows the City to generate rates revenue by assigning a tariff to the property value obtained in the General Valuation Roll.
According to the City’s spokesperson, Stanley Maphologela: “The recommendation in the new rates policy proposes a 6 percentage increase across all categories of properties”
The draft policy is currently available on the City’s website (www.joburg.org.za) and comments may be made in writing and submitted before 30 April 2015 by fax: 011 727 0189 or by email to RatesComment@joburg.org.zaThis e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
