25/03/2015: City of Joburg to train 1000 digital interns and finalists of R5m prize for digital ideas to transform the city 
 
The City of Joburg and its partners are making a significant investment in positioning Joburg as a global city of the future.
Project 1: The City has taken on 250 of the 1000 interns in its JEDI (Joburg Educating Digital Interns) programme to enable them to become employable or start SMMEs. The programme offers courses and six months of integrated learning in the workplaces of some of South Africa's leading digital enterprises.

Project 2: Find out about the finalists of the #Hack.Jozi Challenge, a competition for the best ideas to turn Jozi into the city we all want to live in. With prizes valued at R5m for digital solutions to problems in the City of Joburg, the #Hack.Jozi Challenge has drawn huge interest from digital entrepreneurs.

The Member of the Mayoral Committee responsible for Economic Development in the City of Johannesburg, Clr Ruby Mathang and Mr Ravi Naidoo, Executive Director: Economic Development will brief the media on the Johannesburg Educating Digital Interns (Jedi) and Hack Jozi programmes on Thursday, 26 March 2015.
