29/04/2015: JRA Announces Managing Director Resignation
The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) confirms the resignation of its Managing Director, Mr Skhumbuzo Macozoma. His last working day is 30th April 2015.
Jackie Manche JRA Board Chairperson expressed her sincere thanks to Macozoma.
“Skhumbuzo has made a very significant contribution and impact at the Johannesburg Roads Agency since September 2012,” stated Jackie Manche JRA Board Chairperson, “He has provided outstanding leadership and vision.”
“His sound technical and engineering based approach to bringing the City’s road related infrastructure to a World Class African standard, over the medium term, balanced against the need to accelerate services to disadvantaged communities has been exemplary. During his tenure the JRA has moved to a state of solvency and through his leadership JRA achieved its first ever clean (unqualified) audit this financial year.” We sincerely wish him the very best for the future.”
Macozoma stated that his tenure at the JRA has been one of pride in serving the residents of the City of Johannesburg, the City of his birth.
“I have registered personal successes in this tenure which I will cherish for a long time. I will depart with pride knowing that we have been able to change the fortunes of the JRA, improve its reputation, and restore its position within the Civil Engineering Industry “ stated Skhumbuzo Macozoma, outgoing JRA Managing Director, “I believe that a strong engineering foundation has been fully embedded in the organisation and the entity’s medium term delivery programme is solid.”
“I am grateful for all the support that I have received during my tenure and especially thank the City Manager, the broader COJ Administration, the JRA Board, and JRA staff”.
The City has also acknowledged the resignation of the MD of JRA and his significant contribution to enhancing service delivery and building a strong organisation and wishes him well, said Trevor Fowler, Johannesburg City Manager.
“The City together with the JRA Board is working on a transitional strategy to ensure the ongoing stability at the JRA and that service delivery continues in an uninterrupted fashion,” he added. “The JRA has a strong team in place that has the full confidence of the Board and City leadership.”
An acting Managing Director will be announced shortly and a recruitment process for Macozoma’s successor will be initiated as soon as possible.
