01/02/2016: City of Joburg hosts interfaith dialogue
The City of Johannesburg will host an interfaith dialogue on Tuesday, 02 February 2016 at Soweto Theatre to discuss the role of faith-based organisations (FBOs) in promoting greater social cohesion and active citizenry in the City of Johannesburg.
Representatives from various FBOs will come together in Soweto for a conversation and debate on the role of religion in creating a society that celebrates diversity and supports ethical living.
The speakers include the Executive Mayor of Johannesburg, Cllr Parks Tau; Dr Mathole Motshekga; Rev Frank Chikane; Bishop Malusi Mpumlwana and the representative from the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Commission).
The aim of the dialogue is to mobilise the religious sector to identify and participate in the City’s initiatives that promote social cohesion and also play a significant role in creating caring communities.
