14/10/2016: City of Johannesburg, Region E inaugural career expo

The City of Johannesburg office in Region E will be hosting an inaugural career expo from the 18th -19th October 2016 at Alexsan Kopano hall, Alexandra.

The Region’s aim is to make his an annual event, where the Region together with its partners and the private sector, on a joint venture strive to develop the Youth of Alexandra and surrounding areas to curb unemployment.

This initiative seeks to improve the way knowledge is shared and communicate how opportunities can be assessed by the youth. We aim to positively influence, direct and mould the career decisions that are taken by the youth. This idea around the careers expo is to link corporates to the people and in this case the Youth and the young. We want to expose the youth to different career opportunities, paths and industries that exist, be it Media ,Medicine, Marketing, etc. and those industries that most children do not really have the knowledge about such as hospitality and motor industries.

All exhibiting companies will have their own shelf scheme where they will be to display and showcase their information from .Companies will be giving away corporate promotional items and will have a chance to play their corporate DVD’s during the two days of exhibitions.

As a Region, our aim is to achieve effective engagement, participation and promote public-private partnerships, which we consider crucial in attaining our desired goals and objectives.

The following companies have committed to being part of this great initiative: Khuphulanani Training Institute, Wits University, Damelin College, University of Johannesburg, Media Mark, Nedbank, ENS Africa, Gauteng Agriculture department, Alexandra Chess Club, Central Johannesburg College, Alex Station, Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation, City of Johannesburg HR, various City of Johannesburg entities and departments, Trade 4 Africa / W.I.F.E (Women In Forex and Entrepreneurship) and SCAN DISPLAY.
