18/08/2016: Johannesburg water welcomes the decision to limit the use of water in terms of item 6 of schedule 3 of the national water act of 1998

City of Joburg through Johannesburg Water, notes and welcomes the decision by the National Department of Water Affairs to limit the use of water in terms of Item 8 of Schedule 3 of the National Water Act of 1998 by 15% for urban and 20% for irrigation purposes in the catchment areas of the dams supplying the Integrated Vaal River System and from the system.
Johannesburg Water in conjunction with the other affected municipalities in Gauteng will jointly release a plan, that outlines how the restrictions will be implemented, through a press conference and other public information platforms next week.

We thank water users who have heeded the call to conserve water in their daily activities and we urge all others to join us in our efforts to save water.
