28/07/2016: #Nappies4Dignity

Join the MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services, Councillor Matshidiso Mfikoe, the first lady of the City of Johannesburg Mrs Philisiwe Tau and the Johannesburg Water team as we kick start distribution of donated adult nappies in Soweto, Eldorado Park, Coronationville and Yeoville.
The #Nappies4Dignity is a campaign led by Johannesburg Water that aims to collect one million adult nappies for the frail.

A typical elderly person or terminally ill patient who has urinary incontinence or similar health condition uses adult nappies and needs an average of three a day. Most of them rely on relatives, pensions and social grants to buy them these nappies. Care facilities such as old age homes, hospices and home based care organizations do try to supply those without the personal means to provide for themselves. It is the observed indignity of them having to go without adult nappies for even a day that has motivated JW and partners to drive this campaign.

We have thus far collected enough adult nappies to start distributing to some of the identified frail care facilities (old age homes, hospices and home based care facilities).
