MMC Sifumba wishes South African Masters and Football Legends well ahead of soccer tournament

Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Development, Cllr Nonhlanhla Sifumba, would like to wish the South African Masters and Football Legends well ahead of their 2017 Festival Cup tournament this weekend.
The tournament, which is organised by South African Masters and Football Legends Association (SAMFLA), will take place at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday, 3 December 2017, in Soweto.

Football legends featuring in the tournament will represent their former township teams from Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni. The ladies teams participating in the tournament will be made up of former Banyana Banyana players.

“I would like to wish the teams all the best ahead of the tournament. As the City of Johannesburg, we recognise the significance that this tournament plays in social cohesion, and I would like to appeal to football fans to go out in their numbers to support the players. The support will encourage the legends to perform to the best of their abilities during the tournament”, said MMC Sifumba.

The current administration in the City of Johannesburg is proud to be associated with such initiatives, which seek to promote the development of football not only to the youth but to adults as well.

“The City will continue to work with football associations to support the development of soccer in the City and to promote social cohesion”, said MMC Sifumba.
The tournament is set to start at 10am and finish at 6pm.
