Mayor Mashaba to sign pledge with stakeholders supporting A Re Sebetseng
On Wednesday, Executive Mayor, Cllr Herman Mashaba, will participate in ceremony during which the South African Council of Churches, Eyakho Environmental Forum, the Greater Johannesburg Environmental Forum, Okuhle Waste Management, the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO), University of Johannesburg and the University of the Witwatersrand will pledge their support to the City’s A Re Sebetseng cleaning campaign.
At the event, McDonald’s and Rosebank College will also respectively sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Pikitup.
The campaign strive to encourage residents to take care of the environment by promoting a culture of reducing, re-using and recycling waste in ensuring that Johannesburg becomes one of the cleanest cities in Africa.
Mayor Mashaba will be joined by MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services, Cllr Nico de Jager and Managing Director of Pikitup, Mr Lungile Dhlamini.
Following the signing, all stakeholders will proceed with a cleaning campaign in Braamfontein.
