Lenasia South Library temporary closed due to heavy rainfall

Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Development, Councillor Nonhlanhla Sifumba, would like to inform residents of the temporary closure of Lenasia South Library.
The closure of the library is due to heavy rainfalls that caused roof leaks in some sections of the library. Both the children and adult’ study areas had to be cordoned off due to the collapse of the ceiling.

Contractors are on site to commence with the repairs. Library users are advised to use alternative facilities within the region which include Lenasia Extension 3, Eldorado Extension 1 and Eldorado Park Extension 9 during this period.

“As a City, we care for the lives of all the residents and visitors of Joburg. We cannot take any risks when it comes to the safety of library users and employees. Although closure was considered as a last resort, we deemed it necessary to prevent any accidents” said MMC Sifumba.

“The roof leaks demonstrate the neglect of the City’s facilities that was the order of the day during the previous administration. When the current administration took over, it vowed to offer services in a manner that will ensure that services are delivered to all the residents of the city, notably those that had been forgotten. It is unfortunate that closures such as these become necessary. I would like to assure the residents that this administration is working tirelessly to close the large gaps of neglect, which are a legacy of the past”, added MMC Sifumba.
