Taste and odour in the drinking water in Johannesburg

With the bail for Jonathan Constable and his cronies successfully being opposed, the property has been successfully restored with its rightful owner.
Erf 2529,273 Fawcus Street, in Malvern has been successfully restored back to its lawful owner, Miss Nonhlanhla Mbatha yesterday, 14 January 2018.

Ms Mbatha approached the City's Group Forensic Investigation Service Department in October 2017 upon being denied the use and enjoyment of her property post registration in September 2017.
Johannesburg Water has received notification from its bulk drinking water supplier Rand Water that an earthy tasting compound called geosmin has been detected in the drinking water supplied to the residents of the City of Johannesburg.
The taste and odour will sometimes manifest itself in the potable water supply, the substances causing these odours are not harmful to human health, the problem occurs infrequently and is usually of short duration.

Typically during warm periods the raw water source being the Vaal Dam experiences blue green algae resulting in unwelcomed taste and odour constituents in the drinking water . Consumers may detect an intermittent earthy or musty taste due to the intermittent presence of geosmin.

Taste and odour problems are not unique to the Rand Water’s area of supply but are experienced world-wide. Johannesburg Water is committed to provide water and sanitation service that is of high quality to all residents of the City of Johannesburg and will continue to run tests to ensure the health of our residents is not compromised.
