Members of the media are invited to join the Executive Mayor, Councillor Herman Mashaba, and Member of the Mayoral Committee for Health and Social Development, Dr Mpho Phalatse, in marking a milestone of the eHealth System.

In 2016, the City of Johannesburg started rolling out an Electronic Health Record (EHR) System, called eHealth@joburg, in the 81 primary health care facilities.

This was to ensure that primary healthcare in the City is delivered in an efficient and responsive way that meets residents’ needs and expectations.

Early this month, patient number 500 000 was registered on the eHealth System at Halfway House Clinic in Midrand.

The City has extended eHealth to include a smart queueing system. The queuing system is used to stabilize patient flow in the clinics and allow for the transfer of patients from reception to consultation room, using an anonymous numbering process. It includes queue monitors in the reception areas and access to booking appointments via a cell phone.

The benefits will include, but are not limited to: a reduction in patient waiting times, and most importantly, an improved experience for the patient in a health facility - resulting in the patient being treated with dignity.

The event details are as follows:

Date:                   Tuesday, 28 August 2018

Venue:                Halfway House Clinic, Corner Market and West Street, Halfway House

Time:                   10:00 - 12:00
