On Tuesday, the Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Herman Mashaba, and MMC for Public Safety, Cllr Michael Sun, will attend the official inauguration of the Chief of JMPD, David Tembe.
After serving for close to 20 years with the Emergency Management Services, Chief Tembe was appointed Director of Operations for the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) in 2003.
During his time with JMPD, he was awarded and commended by the National Department of Transport for innovation and excellence in Traffic Law Enforcement. In 2011, he was appointed National Chief of Traffic (RTMC) until he resigned to pursue a career as a consultant in Law Enforcement in 2013.
After the inauguration, Chief Tembe will expand on the successes of the newly launched Operation #BuyaMthetho and announce his strategic vision and plan for the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD), aimed at bringing law and order to our City.
Mayor Mashaba and MMC Sun will be joined by the SAPS Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt Gen Deliwe De Lange.
