The Member of the Mayoral Committee for Health and Social Development, Cllr Mpho Phalatse, is appalled at news of an attempted robbery at Freedom Park Clinic.
The break-in took place in the early hours on Wednesday morning and was carried out by 8 people, four of them carrying guns.
According to clinic management, the security guard spotted the robbers after midnight and pressed the panic button before robbers saw him. They then tied him up and held him at gun-point in the guard house. They gained access to the clinic through the roof and dismantled 12 geysers.
The security company responded but were unable to catch the robbers. However, the security company was able to prevent the robbers from getting away with the goods (geysers). The security guard was found unharmed.
MMC Phalatse commends the security company for responding swiftly and is pleased to that the clinic is operational again.
