Joburg’s Public Libraries offer a range of activities for children and young people at designated libraries during the October school holiday break.  The activities are aimed at providing a variety of fun learning and reading experiences to children, and also promote library services and provide a safe environment for children during the holidays.

The activities are offered free of charge during library hours to both members and non-members of the libraries, in line with the City’s pro-poor development priority area, and increasing access that seeks meaningful redress.

Activities will include Spring and Heritage Day themed stories and arts and craft activities, building puzzles, playing games, and techno-literacy programmes. Some of the highlights of the holiday programme are as follows:

·       Rand Water’s Manzi Water Wise show on how to save water for 6-14 year olds at the Brixton Library on 3 October at 10:00;
