Joburg Theatre, one of the City’s theatres situated in Braamfontein will be entertaining top executives from the Shanghai Cultural Centre by hosting a Gala Lunch and attending The Color Purple with them.
The Color Purple is a musical that has returned to Joburg Theatre, following a very successful season where most nights of the show were sold out. The timing of its return to the theatre was purposefully targeted to coincide with August, which is a month where women are celebrated the world over.
The expected outcome of hosting of the executives from the Shanghai Cultural Theatre is to explore collaboration between the two theatres, in order to expose South African talent and productions to international markets.
MMC Sifumba stated, “As the Member of the Mayoral Committee for Community Development, this is a wonderful opportunity that will put not only Joburg, but South Africa on the map. This visit is in line with my portfolio’s strategic thrust to engage different audiences and partners from all over the world”.
