The Linden swimming pool was closed to the public on Wednesday 28 February 2018 due to an electrical fault on the switch gear. This switch supplies electricity to the main motor that enables the filtration and heating system to operate.
The decision to close the pool was taken because it was assessed that the water at the pool is unhygienic for public use, and as the City we could not expose our bathers to the unhygienic conditions.
At the age of 54, the Linden pool is among the oldest pools in the City. The age of the pool is a contributing factor to the less than optimal operation of the pool.
The Community Development department is working tirelessly to ensure that the electrical fault is resolved in the shortest possible time to allow bathers the opportunity to enjoy the pool during the swimming season which has been extended to the end of April.
Residents of Linden are encouraged to use the following nearby swimming pools whilst the pool is being attended to:
1. Roosevelt Park Swimming Pool (3km from Linden)
Preller Road, Roosevelt Park
Operating hours 10.00 – 17.45
2. Ochse Sq. (6km from Linden)
3rd Street, Albertskroon
Operating hours 10.00 – 17.45
3. Windsor East (10km from Linden)
Viscount Avenue, Windsor East
Operating hours 10.00 – 17.45
I would like to apologize for the inconvenience and the disruption of swimming pool services to the people of Linden during this time. As a City, we are committed to offering services in a manner that assures meaningful redress. The closure is unfortunate, but the health and safety of our bathers is paramount. We will do our best to resolve this issue as soon as it is safely possible.
