Today, 6th August 2018, the Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Herman Mashaba, will conduct an oversight visit of Sebenza Substation.

Thousands of the City’s residents have had the misfortune of power outages in recent weeks. This is attributed to technical challenges that compromised the network’s capacity. It is for this reason the City has invested R1-billion to ensure it enhances the City’s growth prospects.

Sebenza Substation is a buffer bulwark supply facility currently being built to mitigate against unplanned power outages and capacity deficits at various substations. It is also a strategic intake point to relieve network constraints.

We are confident that supply will remain stable if no other unplanned system event occurs. The City of Johannesburg remains committed to improving its basic services’ offering to all residents.

There will be opportunities for the media to take photos and conduct interviews.

The details of the event as follows:
Date: Monday, 06 August 2018
Time: 10:00 Venue: Kelvin Power Station, Lovato Road, Kempton Park
Location: -26.2315343, 28.0309031
